IS SLAVERY BEHIND OUR LOW BREASTFEEDING RATES?
AN article in BLACK AND MARRIED WITH KIDS.COM by KIMBERLY SEALS ALLEN she talks about this on world breastfeeding week, she says that for the last 30 years African American women have had the lowest breastfeeding rates of all ethnicities, she talks about maybe the reason is that during slavery black women were forced to nurse the slave masters infant denying the affection and nurturing for their own offspring.

UNEQUAL DRUG LAWS
BLACK males make up the largest segment , 44%, of all prisoners serving time for drug offenses although they are only 12% of the population while whites who are 75% of the population make up only 27% of imprisoned drug offenders. my message to blacks is, stay away from drugs period, don't sell it, buy it, or use it and you won't have to worry about the unequal drug laws.

DO BLACK PARENTS FAIL THEIR KIDS
MAYOR BLOOMBERG of NEW YORK caught a lot of flax when he said recently that 'low-income parents who never had a formal education don't understand the lifelong value of an education'
in my opinion that is the problem, parents not making education a priority in the home.

BE COOL, BE PATIENT
THEY say when you finally figure out how to live its time to go. I'm 56 years old and I'm finally learning to keep my cool and be patient. example, i stood for two hours in the book store line the other day, i had gotten there 2 hours early to ensure that i get my books that day so that i could be in class on time. the bookstore was suppose to open at 8:30 why so late on the 1st day of school when they know everyone needs their books is just unbelievable, unreal. anyway I'm the 5th person in line i get there at 7am, at 8:20 the clerks arrive and 20 minutes later come out saying that the computers are down, then she hands out candy and tell us to go into the auditorium and have a seat. The air is not working so we're boiling all morning and people are starting to lose their tempers, I'm running back and forth buying sodas trying to stay cool and the sugar is not doing my already high blood pressure any good. after 2 hours i finally get in, get my books to the counter and I'm all happy when the clerk tells me i have no PELL grant and i can't get my books. I'M MAD!!! man!! I'm fuming at my counselor over at A.I.M. so I'm heading across campus to curse him out, fortunately for both of us they were closed. I had to stand in line for 2 hours the next day at financial aid only to find out that it was a computer glitch and that i wasn't the only and that I'm just fine and that all my money is there. All i had to do is be cool and be patient.
